Education and Registration

I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology (MA) from Adler University and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of the Fraser Valley where I completed a double major in psychology and philosophy. For the past four years, I have been receiving ongoing training in an extensive postgraduate psychotherapy program called Existential Analysis through GLE-International.

Professional Experience

I have worked a number of years in non-profit agency settings dealing with trauma, addictions, grief and loss, mental health, and abuse (emotional, psychological, financial, and sexual). My work with those suffering has been in individual, family, and group sessions. I am very comfortable and competent in these areas.
I respect each person’s freedom, ability to make decisions, and create change in their own life.

My Story

As I introduce myself I would like to start with letting you know that I am a mother of four sons. You may be wondering why I chose to name my business OakMoss Counselling with the tag line harvest peace. My business name and tag line represents my four boys. It was created from the meanings of each of their names. Family is most important to me and that is reflected in the number of years I have taken to complete my education while raising my guys. I have approached education and work like I do life. It is not so much when I arrive but what living life is like on the way.

I believe my talent rests in being able to be with others, especially in a time when they are suffering. I am patient, caring, and insightful. I respect that each person’s life and experiences is unique to them and through a therapeutic relationship the one suffering will find their answers and direction with that suffering. This is a very important part of how I work in my practice. If you are looking for someone to give advice or tell you what to do, you will not find that with me. I respect each person’s freedom, ability to make decisions, and create change in their own life. I will be there to help you with this so that any changes made in your life came from you. The skills, growth, and insights you have made will be what you take away from counselling to help you in your life.
